A tactical battle

It’s early days yet, but already a difference in team tactics has emerged.

The CodeBlacks team room is quieter, team members sitting at their laptops, project manager Thomas Scovell walking around, talking quietly with the others. User experience advocate, Zef Fugaz is talking with Debbie from the Grampians disAbility Advocacy Association. There’s requirements on the whiteboard, post-it notes stuck around. There’s talk of personas and types of audience. Across the room designer Steve Dennis is working on logos, looking at other logos of similar organisations, playing with a few ideas in Illustrator and Photoshop. Mark Rickerby is enquiring about FTP access. There’s an air of quiet efficency in the room.

The Australian team are all huddled in a corner, talking with Laura of the Ripple Effect. There’s voices jumping over each other, some laughter. Everyone seems to be asking questions, finding out more information. The action shifts to the whiteboard, a group standing around, writing, drawing. Then everyone moves back to their laptops, then up again, wandering, talking with each other.

It’s fascinating to watch the two different approaches. It’s not that one’s right or wrong – it’s where they’ll end up.
