Well folks, things have taken a turn to the dull-side. Both teams are plugging away so quietly and efficiently there’s really nothing new to report. Russ is pushing me, like the bully he is, to pull out more stories, drum up controversy, stab him in the cheek with a biro, anything to spice things up at this stage. Now, I did witness Fiona colluding with Jeff outside the venue and I did warn them that I was onto whatever it is they were up to. It wouldn’t have been to discuss server issues, or to share a cigarette. No, you and I know that it was something far more sinister than that. Any ideas? Post them here.

Fiona - let’s keep an eye on this darkhorse…

The Australian Team have settled down into the finer details now so there is less excited energy and more focused concentration. The smiles are still abounding though, and fresh coffee has arrived so everyone is happy. Jeff asked if he should ‘jump around and shout and stuff’ like the kiwi’s did but I advised everyone to ‘hang onto their dignity’.

This just in from Kym, who is monitoring the stats for both sites. So far there have been 150 visitors from around the planet looking at the two sites, including 25 from America and a further 20 from Asia.
“Considering there is nothing there to look at I think we are going very well” says Kym.Renae (trying not to eat too much mochi on the job)

Exciting news! FullCodePress is delighted to announce our newest goodwill ambassador.

CodeBlacks management have placed Jeffrey Wegesin under protective guard until the end of the event, believing he’d struggle to overcome Jolie’s predatory charm.
And in breaking news, photos have just surfaced of Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer doing a driveby of the FullCodePress venue.

It’s believed they’re on the lookup for “Developers!”

That was what Debbie Verdon the NZ team’s client was just asking. We should all be so lucky to work with such thoughtful clients. Debbie is across everything happening regarding her upcoming website. She was just getting a walk through from Thomas Scovell about where they are upto with the design. Seems there will be some enhancement of the existing logo, but not too far removed from what it is currently. The site will encompass jobs that may be of interest to people with a disability and links to services such as Centrelink. Debbie pointed out the need to keep this information current for the users and to have relevant news posted on the site. The mood there is intense. I think eating or drinking is the last thing on Thomas’s mind. It’s all very serious.

says Steve, the New Zealand designer, looking at the Australian homepage:
“They surely can’t be using Times New Roman in the logo?”
I’m liking how the CodeBlacks are working. There’s still that air of quiet efficiency. Zef is sitting with the clients, working through the information architecture, explaining the team’s thinking. Steve has mocked up a homepage design, waiting to show the clients. There’s been some discussion on the use of the Grampian’s logo, but it’s clear that the logo needs to stay. So the team is thinking of pushing a new logo for the site that would sit alongside the Grampian’s logo.
Jeffrey has already marked-up a template page. It’ll change as things progress, but it’s got the essentials there. He’s pleased how easy it is to validate at this stage! Peter and Thomas are huddled together by a flipchart, talking over content, discussing what the tone of the site needs to be.
There’s a long way to go, but this looks to be a good basis.

Had a brief chat with Alison Green over the sumptuous desert buffet….mmm. Whilst working out whether or not to have normal cheesecake or cheesecake enhanced with Green jelly, we discussed the upcoming Grampians Disability Advocacy website. Alison seemed quite calm and was anticipating her teams task of making the site as accessible as possible for many different people. The need for quite a high level of accessibility and the challenge of making it all happen in 24 hours could prove interesting to watch. The client apparently was here this morning briefing the NZ team and had just popped out for lunch. The Grampians Disability Advocacy content was easy to divide up - usability for everyone - being the key to making the site work well.

The NZ team have asked if they can do something outside of the established guidelines. It’s a rather reasonable request involving the engagement of ‘outsiders’ to do some user testing on their beta site. It’s a great suggestion, especially since they are designing for users with a disability. After some deliberation from the organisers, the suggestion was taken to the Australian team for discussion. A decision was made to allow each team a 2 hour time frame to conduct user testing. They are under no circumstances allowed to use this time as an opportunity to test other things like whether their code is validating or not. No cheating here folks!
