Aussie FullCodePress team announced

After hours of painful debate and arguments, the Australian selection panel has finally announced the Australian team. And here they are:
Elle Meredith – HTML/CSS marker-upper
I started working in graphic design 14 years ago, and throughout those years have gained extensive experience in all stages of production including: layout, print production, pre-press preparation and proofing – in short-seeing a project through from concept to completion.
In 2002, my focus has shifted from print design to web design and development. In 2006, I completed certificate IV in website design at TAFE, North Coast Institute. In 2008, I completed a Bachelor of Arts (Internet Studies) at Curtin University of Technology, WA, Australia.
My work style is detailed and methodical and I always aspire towards self improvement, mostly through continued education, either formal or not. Currently, I plan to divert my attention to learning Ruby, Rails, Subversion, Git and jQuery more in depth. Next year I plan to continue to do my Honours with Curtin University.
Patrick Kennedy – User experience advocate
Patrick Kennedy is a user experience specialist with over ten years industry experience. He brings to the Australian team his expertise in user research, information architecture, usability and best-practice web design. He works closely with technical, creative and business colleagues, and has a background in computer systems engineering.
As both a consultant and in-house practitioner, Patrick has delivered successful projects for a variety of organisations, both in Australia and the UK. He regularly speaks at industry conferences (including OZCHI, Open Publish, OZ-IA, webDU) and has published many articles on user experience related topics.
Patrick?s ramblings can be found on his blog Pat’s Point of View.
Rhonda Prentice – Content editor/wordsmith
Rhonda Prentice is a communications specialist with a passion for all things digital!
Her ten years of experience has seen her working in the communications and digital teams of various not for profit organisations, including Childfund, The Fred Hollows Foundation, Amnesty International and Business Events Sydney. She is currently the Digital Communications Manager at Insurance Australia Group (IAG).
Rhonda completed a Bachelor of Communications at the University of Western Sydney in 1999 and has since participated in numerous writing and online marketing courses. Her varied skills and experience is in writing, editing, website management and search engine optimisation. ‘

James Farrell – Programmer
James Farrell is an Internet enthusiast, who is passionate about the Internet and his place in contributing to it.
He has been writing programs since he was 13 and has over 10 years of commercial experience.
Although from a predominantly technical background James enjoys the creative opportunites web design offer.
James is currently working as a freelance web developer in Sydney.
Alexi Paschalidis – Graphic designer
Alexi has been creating websites for around twelve years, back when notepad was cool and hand-coding HTML was done in uppercase. Since then, he has developed a passion for Standards-based development and advocating the importance of the end-user.
In his early days he worked in visual design, Flash and front-end web development. In 2003 he started Oxide Interactive with a friend, and considers himself lucky to be spending his days swimming in the various streams of design.
Previously, Alexi has spent a few years managing the Royal Australian Navy’s corporate website. He now works with clients such as the National Library of Australia, University of Canberra, Customs and BBC.
Wendy White – Project manager
Wendy White is the Online Project Developer at Scitech, an interactive science museum in Perth. She has been programming since she was ten years old, and she still thinks Notepad is cool (actually, she’s moved on to Notepad++). Just don’t talk to her about Java. Her passion for technology and design is only eclipsed by her passion for organising people and projects.
She has six years of experience working with not for profit organisations, and worked as a science communicator, puppeteer and tour guide before moving into web development after graduating from her Multimedia degree at Murdoch University.
In her spare time, she stares intently at Jquery tutorials. She is also a Raqs Sharki dancer and a comic SF writer. You can find her blog at http://www.fishoutoforder.net
She is pleased that FullCodePress has finally given her the chance to use her life-long insomnia for the powers of good.
Congratulations and thanks!
Congratulations to the team members! We’ll be interviewing them next week.
A huge thanks to everyone who applied for the Australian team – some great talent there… and good to know in case we have a late scratching!

Just a note to say that I do really exist
I did not get to see my acceptance email until Monday afternoon after the results had already been published, so my profile blurb and photograph were sent later than the other applicants’.
I have a strong coding and IA background, as well as being responsible for facilitating communication between team members of the online projects run at the not for profit I work for. It’s a huge honour to be a part of this awesome event!
What a fine looking team. Stylish, yet functional. Classy, yet understated. Get that trophy on the boat now!
and yet i detect an underlying … hmmmph .. about y’all …
@Enzoid – is that the sound people make when you knock their socks off? For that is what we are planning to do.
(If by some bizarre twist of fate we do not win, we can still steal everyone’s socks, although that might sound more like “Oof! My socks! Get back here you bloody Aussies!”)
[...] White is the project manager of the Australian team. I managed to corner her at 4.30pm to ask how her team’s going. Well the Australian [...]
