- 1. Can you tell us about your role at Adobe. What’s a typical day or week like for you?
-
I’m a Systems Engineer for Adobe Australia and New Zealand. Sounds a little fancy, but I don’t actually engineer anything! My role involves presenting Adobe’s technologies to customers and at various Adobe and industry events. I work with a range of products spanning the Adobe Flash Platform including Flex, Flash Catalyst and Flash Media Server, through to Adobe’s enterprise platform Adobe LiveCycle ES.
- 2. FullCodePress is delighted to have Adobe as the Silver sponsor of the
event. What attracted Adobe to sponsoring FullCodePress? -
We were involved with FullCodePress last year, and being so successful we jumped at the chance to be involved again! Not only does the event showcase local web development talent, but also delivers a functional web experience for charity. We are delighted to be involved in community efforts such as this.
- 3. What do you think the web will look like in 5 years time? What platforms and technologies will be the most common?
-
Adobe! Well, maybe that’s a little biased, but I can picture a web of hosted services and applications, much more powerful then we see right now, with people viewing these experiences across multiple screens, big and small. There’s a large number of portable devices on the way, as well as convergence of technologies, all of which are becoming more powerful and more portable, allowing you to carry and access anything, anywhere.
- 4. You were a speaker at the recent Web09 conference in Auckland. What’s your impression of the New Zealand web scene?
-
There’s really some amazing things happening across the Tasman. We were lucky to meet with the team at Resn www.resn.co.nz who have recently won multiple FWA awards. Quite a feat for such a small team. My perception of the NZ market has changed from conservative and bandwidth constrained to innovative and expressive. The design and development work coming out of our region is world class!
- 5. What do you think is going to be the hardest thing competitors in FullCodePress will have to overcome?
-
The ability to adapt to change. In such a short time frame, only 24 hours, there’s the potential for many hurdles. Good team work is key! It’s important to understand each other’s strengths and expertise and use this to your advantage. Good luck!
